In 2005 I moved From NYC to Florence Italy for a two year course of study in textile printing. That decision changed my trajectory in life that I have been processing ever since. A series of fated incidents that led me here. In 2006 while still studying I opened a small fashion label and then shop in Florence with two other associates. My job was deciding on print themes and overseeing the printing of garments. My aesthetic at the time was heavily influenced by what I had been living in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side. Building narrative in a Rauschenbergian manner and applying it to garments. Found graphics, clip art, old books and magazines. Everything was game for use as a resource image or a print surface. A desire for more humane timing in my creative work and the desire for a more personable approach to Fashion culminated in my decision to leave the project in 2009.
