Fukushima Flowers is a series that was produced between 2013 and 2017 in response to the unfolding environmental disaster. The pieces from this series were painted between Florence Italy and Punta Negra Uruguay utilizing traditional paint media. Small, intimate and brilliant pieces incorporating gilding, gauche, and fountain pen; Fukushima Flowers was shown in May 2022 at the British Institute of Florence. I define my artistic life as before and after my years in Uruguay. An intense contact with the unforgiving power of mother nature. This body of work acted as a bookend to a cycle that I had begun in 2003, oscillations and growth towards a more solid and mature style. Paintings from this series are housed in private collections in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
